each striking technique can vary greatly, presenting impressive
techniques. But in fact no matter how impressive they are,
the core of all these techniques can also be retrieved in
many other styles of fighting; we called them basic (or canonic)striking
1. Straight direction attacking style
this style is called straight punch, in Da Cheng boxing is
also called collapsing punch. That issuing force part of the
body (attacker attacks his opponent with part of body such
as fist, palm, knee, elbow, foot etc...) the moving line is
horizontally straight forward, the striking point is
usually opponent’s chest, belly, rib etc... This attacks style
is generally easy, nimble because you are issuing force with
a part of your body which is beeline, as to minimize distance
from hitting opponent.

my head with an up
down movement, my left foot is slightly moving leftward, and
right foot following, two feet falling point is just at his
right side, the head escapes
naturally opponent’s two hands’ attack, after move right foot
forward, opponent middle ostium (Zhong Men), and at the same
time with your right collapsing punch deliver a straight strike
to opponent's heart, chest and rib etc... (Figure 1—3).
For example 2: The opponent with
right straight punch is striking my chest, my left foot moves
slightly to left-forward, and the right foot is following,
jinking opponent’s right punch, and at the same time I use
right straight punch to strike opponent’s rib
2. Sideling direction attacking style
could present upward sideling and downward sideling. Upward
sideling in boxing is called hooking punch, in Da Cheng boxing
it is called drilling punch, downward sideling in Da Cheng
boxing is called downward punch.
strike style’s issuing force moving routine is sideling direction
strike with upward, falling point is your opponent's mandible.
Sometimes hitting opponent's heart, this may usually happen
when opponent’s upper body is leaning forward.
For example 1: Opponent with a right
straight punch is hitting my chest, my left foot is slightly
moving left-forward, and the right foot following, and at
the same time with left arm from left to right is slightly
pressing opponent right arm, so your body issue a left punch
with left hand drilling punch bottom up attack to your opponent's
mandible (Figure 7—9).
For example 2: Opponent with his
right palm is smashing my head, I use right hand with
right arm to knock opponent right arm, this should let his
body shivering, then I use left punch, with left hand drilling
punch bottom up to attack opponent's mandible (Figure 10—12).
attacking style has issuing force moving routine which has
sideling direction; striking falling point is
usually opponent’s heart and belly etc... If attacker is much
more higher than opponent, sometimes it can be used to attack
opponent’s mouth or nose.
example 1: Opponent with right straight punch is attacking
my chest, my body is slightly jinking left-forward, and at
the same time I use left hand, up down to press opponent right
arm, controlling opponent's force, and after rapidly with
my right elbow, I pull his right punch, with right hand’s
downward punch attacks opponent heart (Figure 13—15).
example 2: Opponent’s two palms make tiger’s figure attacks
my chest, and my body fast jink left-forward, escape opponent
attacking, and after with a fast right elbow, pull his right
punch, with your right hand punch
and attack opponent's heart...(Figure 16—18).
3. Arc attacking style
this style is called swaying punch, in Da Cheng boxing it
is called enclosing punch. That issuing force’s moving routine
is done from two sides to the centre while making an arc,
striking falling point is
opponent’s left-right antilobium, outside of two arms. This
attacks style allows you to shorten the distance so that your
chance to hit successfully your opponent is higher.
1: Opponent assuming posture, preparing to attack. I use rapidly
right punch with right hand enclosing punch to attack directly
opponent's left antilobium. If opponent is fending off with
his arm,I will continue to attack, even if this strike will
just loose his structure (Figure 19—20).
example 2: Opponent with left hand is delivering an up down
chopping punch to smash my head, I have already prepare my
count attack, with two hands enclosing punch counter attacking
opponent mid-line part. For example, I use first my right
hand enclosing punch to strike opponent left antilobium, then
opponent is uplifting his left hand fend off, I can also deliver
with left hand enclosing punch another following attack to
my opponent mid-line (Figure 21—23).
